In this section there is some helpful information for planning your trip to Garmin Challenge Herning. Herning is very easy to reach by car, train, bus or plane.

By Train & Bus

DSB operate the train traffic between Herning and Copenhagen, Struer, and Thisted, every hour there are trains to Copenhagen or Struer.

ARRIVA operates the trains between Herning and Silkeborg, Aarhus and Skjern.

By Plane

Midtjyllands Airport

Midtjyllands Airport is only 25,2 km away from Herning. It will take approximately 30 min by car. It is also possible to take the bus from Midtjyllands (Karup) airport directly to Herning City.

Midtjyllands Airport is direct connected with Copenhagen Airport Kastrup. With up to 10 departures from both Copenhagen Airport and Midtjyllands Airport, DAT provides several opportunities for flexible transportation between two major areas in Denmark. Billund Airport:

Herning is not far from Billund Airport. By car you have an approximately 45 min drive. From the airport, take route 30 to Give city and from there on take route 18 to Herning.

If you don’t have the opportunity to drive yourself, you can take the bus and train to Herning from the airport.

Take the bus from the airport to either Give or Brande (see map). From one of these two train stations you can take a train directly to Herning station. For more information on train departures and times, please visit www.rejseplanen.dk

Copenhagen Airport – Kastrup

By car, drive along E20 and E45 til you reach Vejle. Shortly after Vejle, take route 18 all the way up to Herning.

You can take a train directly from the airport to Herning Station. Take the train in the direction of Struer and get of at Herning Station. For more information on train departures and times, please visit www.dsb.dk

By Car from Germany

Drive along the A7 until you get to the Danish border. After the border, take the E45 until you reach Vejle. Shortly after Vejle, find Route 18 and you will get to Herning.

By Car from Norway

Take the ferry from either Larvik, Kristianssund, Stavanger, Bergen, or Langersund to Hirtshals.

With car from Hirtshals you have approximately 195 km to Herning.

Take E39 and E45 against Aalborg until you reach route 13 Sønderup/Viborg/Aars. Take route 13 and from there take route 12 Herningvej and you are all set.

By Car from Sweden

Ferry or Bridge

Take the ferry from Gothenburg to Frederikshavn – Stenaline

With car from Frederikshavn you have approximately 195 km to Herning. Take E45 against Aalborg until you reach route 13 Sønderup/Viborg/Aars. Take route 13 and from there take route 12 Herningvej and you are all set.

If you wish to drive all the way to Herning, take the Øresund Bridge from Malmø to Copenhagen. From there take E20 and E45 til you reach Vejle. Shortly after Vejle, take route 18 all the way up to Herning.
